The Town of Eaton does not have an ordinance regarding
felines. The Eaton Police Department will not respond to calls pertaining
to cats. The Eaton Police Department does, however, have cat traps
available for citizens to check out. It is your responsibility to
transport any captured cats to the Humane Society or veterinarian of your
choice. Call 454-2212 to see if the traps are available.

The Eaton Police Department does not wear shoulder patches. Patches are
not available for collectors or others who request them

From time to time you may receive telephone solicitations from various
organizations stating they are affiliated with the Eaton Police Department.

Requests for Service

| In an emergency you should DIAL 911. Your call will
be answered by the Weld County Communications Center in Greeley. Your
call will be taken and Officers and other emergency service providers will
be dispatched immediately. |
| Calls for non-emergency police services may be directed to
the Eaton Police Department by calling 970-454-2212. |
| Calls for Administrative purposes and requests for record
services are taken from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM Monday through Friday
(excluding legal holidays). These calls can be directed to the
non-emergency number listed above. |
| For liability reasons the Eaton
Police Department does not unlock vehicles. Venues
available for this purpose are locksmiths and towing companies. Should
a child be locked inside the vehicle, Superior Towing in Greeley will
respond and unlock the door at no charge. Their number is
970-330-2440. |
Hours of Operation
| The Eaton Police Department is a 24 hour operation and has
officers on duty to serve your needs day or night. The business office
is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. excluding weekends and
holidays. Should you need assistance after hours, there is a telephone
on the front of the building (223 first street), just right of the police
department entry that will connect you directly with the on-duty officer. |

detect criminal activity, investigate offenses, apprehend offenders, protect
life and property, facilitate the safe movement of people and vehicles,
preserve the peace and enforce Federal and State laws and the ordinances of
the Town of Eaton. |
Accreditation
| The Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police accredits the
Eaton Police Department. The Department was also the recipient of the
Professional Standards Compliance Award from the Colorado Association of
Chiefs of Police in 2000. |
Department Profile
| The Eaton Police Department serves a community nestled
between the Colorado Front Range and the Eastern Plains of Colorado.
the department currently consists of 8 sworn full-time personnel and 1
civilian staff member. The department is continually evolving and
growing to meet the ever-increasing demand of the community. the
department is administered by the Chief of Police and currently has two
Sergeants to optimize the supervision of the department. |
| The department offers 24 hour a day services to the
community. Officers are trained in various specialty areas of law
enforcement such as Advance DUI Enforcement, Advanced Traffic Accident
Investigation, Drug Recognition Expert, Field Training and Evaluation and
Firearms Training to mention a few. |
| The Eaton Police Department embraces a philosophy of
aggressive crime prevention and detection. The Department is proud to
hold a better than 97% clearance rate for crimes committed in the Town of
Eaton. this number is achieved through thorough investigation and
follow-up to solve cases in a timely fashion. The Eaton Police
Department is also proud of a strong community involvement in crime
prevention and detection that assists in solving crimes in our community. |
Community Programs
| The Eaton Police Department is committed to continued
involvement in our community. The Department is involved with the
Eaton School District providing school liaison services specifically to the
Eaton Middle School and Eaton High School. the Officers are available
to assist the school district faculty and staff with Education Programs and
Police Services. The philosophy is that the Officers do not serve as
counselors or security guards but to work closely with the school as Police
Officers. |

Municipal Ordinances
| The Eaton Police Department intently enforces Municipal
Ordinance and code. The philosophical approach is to gain voluntary
compliance from the residents of the Town of Eaton. In order to
facilitate this, the Eaton Police Department routinely issues written code
enforcement warnings. this allows the resident to become aware of the
violation and gives them an opportunity to come into compliance with the
code. However, serious violations or those that pose an immediate
public safely concern may be dealt with by immediate summons into court.

| Two of the most common violations of Municipal Code are: |
| PARKING - Vehicles are required to park at the right
side curb in the same direction of vehicular travel. No unattached
trailers of any kind may be parked on Town streets. Vehicles that
are inoperable or disabled cannot be parked in public view. All
vehicles parked on Town streets or in public view must have current
registration. Vehicles must park in a fashion that is compliant
with any posted signs or curb markings. Truck parking is limited
to 2 hours on any Town street. |
| OVER-GROWTH AND REFUSE - The Town of Eaton requires
that property be kept clear of weeds, debris and refuse. Sidewalks
must be kept clear of debris and hazards including snow. Any over
growth of weeds, improper disposal or accumulation of refuse, or
accumulation of unsightly debris are violations of Municipal Code. |

Services and Fees
| The Eaton Police Department completes fingerprinting
Monday-
Friday (excluding legal holidays) at the Eaton Police Department offices.
Anyone needing fingerprints for employment or other purposes can bring their
fingerprint card and a $10.00 fee to the police department for completion. |
| The Eaton Police Department performs vehicle identification
number (VIN) inspections daily. Anyone needing a VIN inspection can
bring their vehicle along with the current title and registration to the
Eaton Police Department offices for completion. There is also a $10.00
fee for this service. |

| Copies of police reports or records are charged at a rate
of $2.00 for the first page and $.50 for each additional page. Again,
depending on purpose and scope of the records check or search there may be

Employment and Hiring

Eaton Police Department participates in the COPS
program administered through the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police.
Applicants wishing to work at the Eaton Police Department are required to
pre-apply and test with the COPS program. Information about COPS
