Eaton will be switching from their current permitting system (Cascade) to a new permitting system, CommunityCore. We are very excited to bring this new software to you, as it contains very similar functionality as Cascade and has many additional and new features released on a regular basis.

This change between software is scheduled to happen this weekend so we wanted to provide you with information on the dates/times for this change as well as give you information on how this will affect any permits you already have in process.

Changes and migration begin on January 5
Cascade permitting will be turned to “view-only” access at 5:00 p.m. MST on Friday, January 5. After that time, all the permits and data currently in Cascade will be migrated into CommunityCore. All active and inactive (completed) permits and associated information will be moved into CommunityCore. All permits will retain their current status and you will have access to view the same information you previously had through Cascade.

During this migration process (approximately 5:00 p.m. MST on Friday, January 5, through the end of the day Sunday, January 7), you will not be able to submit new permits or make any changes to existing permits in Cascade.

Key note: Any pending contractor registrations will be placed on hold about a week prior to the transition so we recommend that anyone who is in the licensing process should complete any outstanding requirements or payments prior to Friday, January 5, to avoid this short hold window. Once the transition is complete, new registration will be done through CommunityCore.

CommunityCore Registration
Once the migration of all of the data and permits is complete (expected completion will be sometime Sunday, January 7), all online users will get an email from support [at] communitycore.com () with a link to reset your password and gain access to your permits in CommunityCore. Additionally, this email will include links to quick information and guides on how to navigate within CommunityCore and how to access support when working within CommunityCore. Once you have received this email and logged in, you will be able to access your existing permits and apply for any new permits through CommunityCore. If you do not see this email by the end of the day on Monday, January 8, please be sure to check your junk or spam folder for this email.

Key notes:

  1. If you have access to Cascade permitting for another jurisdiction, please continue to log into Cascade and continue to work within Cascade for that jurisdiction.
  2. If you have access to CommunityCore for another jurisdiction already, the system should let you access your other jurisdictions and now Eaton (as long as the email address you use to access both systems is the same email address).
  3. We recommend you add the following two email addresses to your “approved senders” list or contacts list to make sure that you receive the password reset email and future permit-specific updates from CommunityCore. They are: support [at] communitycore.com and no-reply [at] no-reply.communitycore.com.

If you have any questions about this upcoming change, please do not hesitate to reach out to us and we will do our best to answer your questions in a timely manner. We are excited about this change and look forward to working with CommunityCore to continue to bring you a helpful tool for building permits in Eaton.
