The Town of Eaton is located 7 miles north of Greeley, Colorado on US Highway 85.  This town of about 4000 people is a legacy to the hard work and foresight of Colorado Governor Benjamin Eaton, who helped found the town in 1892 and was responsible for the beginning of crop irrigation in the area.  The community sits at the gateway to the Rocky Mountains, a mere 30 miles to the west, and is surrounded by some of the most productive farmland found anywhere.  The history and the future of this community is, indeed, "Written in Water"*.

Eaton is governed by a Mayor and six Trustees.  Town Board meetings are held at the Town Hall on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  You're always welcome to attend any Town Board meeting.

Day to day business is carried out by the Town Administrator, Gary Carsten and Don Cadwallader, Assistant Administrator, with help from the Town Clerk, Chris Bagley and Administrative Assistant, Connie Vohs.  The Chief of Police is Randy Jacobson and the Police Secretary is Alice Leonard.  Emily Haythorn is the Recreation Director.

The phone number for the Town Hall is (970) 454-3338, and the best time to call is between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  Stop by, introduce yourself to the Town Hall staff, you'll find them to be friendly folk and very informative!

TOWN HALL:  You can conduct the following business there:

1)     Register to vote.  If you're not registered or need to change your registration stop by and do so!

2)     Pay utility bills.  Just water/sewer/sanitation.  No Excel Energy, Atmos Energy, or phone.  The town accepts credit card payment!

3)     Buy building permits.  Putting up a garage or whatever?  Not only can you get the permit, but Gary can give you information on ordinances.

4)     License your Dog.  Yep, they have to be licensed!

5)     Buy a cemetery space.  You are planning on being a long term resident, right?

6)     Sign up for adult softball or other recreational activities.
